Control Freak (2025) 63% 44/100 EDIT “At one point, the lead character suffers a serious injury we’re told will have a long road to recovery. Instead of showing us that road at all, it leapfrogs it, making you wonder why bother even mentioning it to begin with?” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 15, 2026 Full Review Hello Beautiful (2025) 70% 67/100 EDIT “Hello Beautiful could easily have become just another character drama, but a surprisingly profound performance from Tricia Helfer brings a different resonance than we’re used to.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 15, 2026 Full Review Predator: Badlands (2025) 86% 55/100 EDIT “Predator Badlands is what happens when a studio isn’t sure what makes a franchise work,so instead of subverting convention, they instead rely heavily on tried and true, missing the potential right in front of them.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 15, 2026 Full Review If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025) 92% 90/100 EDIT “Rose Byrne is tremendous in a film that doesn’t hold back and keeps mounting tension in an effort to break you down the same way life beats down our protagonist in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, an audacious debut feature, and an absolute must-see.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 15, 2026 Full Review Spy Kids: Armageddon (2023) 55% 60/100 EDIT “Rodriguez just isn’t putting in the effort anymore, as his heart probably wasn’t in remaking his own film. However, Levi and Rodriguez are charming, and Magnussen is perfectly obnoxious as the villain.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 14, 2026 Full Review Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (2023) 83% 56/100 EDIT “It can’t shake that feeling that its the sequel we never needed.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 14, 2026 Full Review Harold and the Purple Crayon (2024) 28% 76/100 EDIT “Zachary Levi and Zooey Deschanel elevate this family film into something engaging, with the aroma of originality, despite itself being an adaptation.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 14, 2026 Full Review Tyler Perry's Joe's College Road Trip (2026) 45/100 EDIT “Refreshingly, Perry finally brings purpose in messaging to his film, but now has no idea what to do with it, leaving it to the two most obnoxious characters to solve the problems of the world.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 14, 2026 Full Review Sarah's Oil (2025) 85% 71/100 EDIT “It may not have struck gold, but Sarah’s Oil is good enough to warrant your attention, and features some wonderful performances.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 14, 2026 Full Review By Design (2025) 69% 63/100 EDIT “One of the weirdest films I’ve ever had the privilege to sit through, and I don’t regret it for a second. Films like this with all the audacity in the world to dispose of conventions are still necessary in this cinematic landscape as palate cleansers.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 13, 2026 Full Review Relationship Goals (2026) 23% 56/100 EDIT “Nothing memorable here, because the chemistry that has a spark in it is suffocated by a film that can’t decide if it has a goal of its own. Essentially just another forgettable streaming title.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 13, 2026 Full Review Ella McCay (2025) 23% 29/100 EDIT “If Ella McCay is as good as it gets for director james L. Brooks, he has run out of gas.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 13, 2026 Full Review Jimpa (2025) 55% 72/100 EDIT “John Lithgow is simply divine in this coming of age story where three generations in the same family all come of their respective ages. ” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 8, 2026 Full Review Keeper (2025) 51% 33/100 EDIT “Keeper? I hardly know her! A film so tragically misguided that the only thing you can do is return to sender.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 6, 2026 Full Review Starman (2025) 81/100 EDIT “Starman doesn’t perhaps go quite where no man has gone before, but it does tackle the theory of life on other planets with some astute theorizing.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 6, 2026 Full Review Dracula (2025) 52% 58/100 EDIT “Luc Besson wasn’t the right person for an exciting new version of Dracula, but Christoph Waltz certainly is poorly directed, resulting in a performance closer to camp than serious.” – Mac the Movie Guy Feb 6, 2026 Full Review Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023) 33% 40/100 EDIT “This is kind of James Gunn’s fault. ” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 31, 2026 Full Review The Wrecking Crew (2026) 73% 47/100 EDIT “Unfortunately, the Wrecking Crew lives up to its title, destroying the hopes Amazon has set itself up for a resurgence in 2026.It is as instantly forgettable as their previous releases.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 31, 2026 Full Review Argylle (2024) 33% 33/100 EDIT “The problem with being desperate to attract auteurs is that you end up giving them a longer leash to hang themselves with.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 30, 2026 Full Review TRON: Ares (2025) 53% 61/100 EDIT “I’m not sure Tron: Ares needs its own permanence code, but casual fans of the series will appreciate some inventive action sequences. AI just wants to be as real as Jared Leto, and his so-called life.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 30, 2026 Full Review Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2025) 83% 86/100 EDIT “Probably the best cautionary tale since idiocracy, packed with a magnetic performance from Sam Rockwell, and a return to form for Gore Verbinski.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 30, 2026 Full Review Pike River (2025) 86% 72/100 EDIT “Pike River is a heartbreaking true story wrapped as a film that celebrates resilience and committing to doing the best for the ones you love.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 26, 2026 Full Review Soul on Fire (2025) 67% 44/100 EDIT “Disabled people aren’t so inherently inspirational that you should approach one on the street and ask them to speak to a pack of Girl Scouts, but Soul On Fire just had to go an make it weird.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 26, 2026 Full Review H Is for Hawk (2025) 80% 59/100 EDIT “One day, Claire Foy is likely to join the ranks of Oscar nominees, but it won’t be for H Is For Hawk.” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 23, 2026 Full Review The Running Man (2025) 62% 53/100 EDIT “the Running Man trips and falls trying to figure out why it exists, and how to adapt to a different social climate and still maintain scathing commentary on where we are headed. ” – Mac the Movie Guy Jan 23, 2026 Full Review
