Fifty T @RT01421419 14 hrs ago Decent Pacino, Dismal Script 88 Minutes is a perfectly alright, though largely uninspired, thriller. If you are here for Al Pacino, you will find him in decent form, though the role lacks the legendary power of his nineties output. The premise is watchable enough, yet the "twists" feel incredibly dated, likely because they have been recycled ad nauseam over the last two decades. The middle act drags significantly, bogged down by repetitive incidents that fail to heighten the stakes. It is a predictable affair that could have been far more impactful with a sharper script and less formulaic direction. 6/10: Not a bad way to spend an afternoon if you are a Pacino completionist, but it is ultimately a forgettable entry in the genre. See more Cork B @RT87142816 Jan 5, 2026 I am so used to Pacino as the bad guy, this just doesn't feel plausible. The scenes are so disjointed and the bad guy is always one step ahead, with no time for the plot to breathe. There are too many red herring subplots meant to misdirect, but instead just add clutter. This probably would have been better as a 'we are all trapped in this house on this deserted island for the weekend' type deal instead of frenetically driving to and fro conveniently only coming across the relevant suspect characters. Pacino gives a decent performance, but much of the supporting cast is weak, like the one red head who just looks like a deer in the headlights all the time. Going in with low expectations, especially after Al Pacino’s underwhelming roles in a few earlier films, actually makes this one hit harder in a good way. He plays Dr. Jack Gramm, a forensic psychiatrist drawn into a terrifying race against time when a convicted psychopath, just hours from execution, claims he is innocent and warns that Gramm has only 88 minutes left to live. In the end, 88 Minutes is a solid thriller with enough tension to keep you hooked until the final seconds. It is not a masterpiece, but it is definitely worth the watch, especially if you are a Pacino fan or someone who loves race-against-the-clock stories.
