By no means a definitive account of his career (nor does it try to be), "The One About Matthew Perry" instead allows his friends, family and admirers to remember the whole, complicated person. Go to Full Review

[The series] works largely as a portrait of the rapacious, ever-vigilant monster that is addiction itself, and the one-step-forward, two-steps-back dance of death that so many addicts enact until it’s too late to do anything about it. Go to Full Review

A thorough, enjoyable and ultimately very sad portrayal of how a famous, brilliant man couldn’t conquer his addictions. Go to Full Review

If you have been a die-hard fan of Friends and especially one who has returned to the show, time and again, for comfort, a happy place and laughter on a lonely night in, this docu-series is a must-watch. Be prepared to have your heart broken. Go to Full Review

The One About Matthew Perry seems to exist in no small measure to get the streamer’s algorithm to pump you over to more easily digestible programming that you’ll lose interest in fairly quickly. Go to Full Review

The makers do a stellar job for FRIENDS fans, ensuring those tissues come in handy as they intersperse interviews with Matthew Perry's friends and family alongside montages from some of Chandler Bing's most hilarious moments in FRIENDS. Go to Full Review

David H @DavidHHH 20 hrs ago Very moving, if quite familiar story. You want to grab the guy, shake him, tell him to pull himself together and enjoy his success, fortune, friends and family. Although obviously that's not the way it works with addiction. See more Miranda B @RT22480332 1 day ago Was a big fan of Friends and hated to see him struggling later towards the end of his life. Enjoyed seeing the charitable work he did but given his unusual upbringing would've preferred they expanded a little more on that and how it helped shape him. See more Chloe R @Chloe2729 2 days ago A roller coaster of emotions to say the least. This documentary portrays Matthew Perry as the beautiful and incredibly special person that he was, I would heavily recommend tissues. See more Karen F @Dragontat77 3 days ago I thought this was an insightful and very well edited documentary which allowed us to hear directly from those closest to Matty. Especially touching that his sister was a central voice for her personal experiences. A lot of people in his most inner circle really cared for him. What I thought was the saddest thing about Matty’s death, was that he died alone. Never got married or had any children. Fell in love with a few women in his life, but could never sustain that intimacy required for a life time commitment. When his sister shared that photo of him alone in the hot tub at his home, that he only several weeks later died in… that was chilling as he looked so lonely. All by himself. Another tragic loss of a comedian/actor. So many others of which are truly suffering from severe depression coupled with addiction. He is missed. See more Joshua M @RT66232987 3 days ago Really dull and obviously commissioned by Perry"s friends. Kevin Pollack is a brilliant actor, and Perry's fate was sad, but self-inflicted. His family is obviously supportive and decent (NBC personality Keith Morrison is his step-dad) but none of his co-stars or anyone but Pollack, a couple lifelong friends, his sister, and a couple longo ago ex-girlfriends appear in the way too long "documentary." Absent are excerpts from Perry's own book about his addiction, or the truly fascinating story of how he died, the doctors, and others who helped him kill himself, and their fate. See more Michael P @mpagem2 5 days ago Was this documentary supposed to make me like Matthew Perry? It does a good job of highlighting him as a jealous, unfunny epitome of a theatre kid. I never liked Friends, but I never knew how strange he was. He might be the unfunniest person in mainstream media I’ve ever seen. He seems like such a performative person, I guess thats par for the course though. See more Read all reviews
