Like many New York City gals, Rebecca Bloomwood loves to shop. The trouble is, she shops so much that she is drowning in debt. Rebecca would love to work at the city's top fashion magazine but, so far, has not been able to get her foot in the door. Then she lands a job as an advice columnist for a financial magazine owned by the same company. Her column becomes an overnight success, but her secret threatens to ruin her love life and career.

Maybe the movie is a cautionary tale intended to show how we don’t need to spend to be happy. Maybe, but I doubt it, since several scenes describe the ecstasy of shopping and the allure of name brands.

I mean it def got laughs out of me but yeah the movie was incomplete. There are so many things just left unfinished, like the overconsumption, the materialism. She is classy, fashionable and have a way with words and you are telling me that the magazine that is HIGH on fashion and well… words didn’t hire her because then they wouldn’t sell 🙄 That brings me to the second point: her support group or whatever it was, useless and unnecessary. And I wouldn’t say it’s a rom com - just a com com Because there was literally no bonding between them. It was just ee-aa-oo and then they’re shooming. In the end she’s broke but happy- uhm no thank you.🙂‍↔️

Lightweight and mindless, and the slapstick was ridiculous. But if you need to shut your brain off for a couple hours, this movie will do the trick. Otherwise, skip it.

What a dorky movie. It has a great cast, but they were all sort of "dumbed down" with this script. I really can't believe they agreed to do it, and I am betting they hope that nobody remembers that they were associated with this movie. It was over-the-top silliness, sort of like an old Jerry Lewis movie or a 3 Stooges movie, but without any comedic sensibilities. The attempt to be funny landed with a messy splat.

Synopsis
