Whatever its virtues and flaws, "Fifi" performs the vital service of acquainting the world with an artist who deserves - despite his own dismissal of such notions - world recognition, if not immortality.

Farahani's direction is artfully suggestive but also, at moments, oblique; she seems to think that she's making a Godardian essay-film.

By its bittersweet end, "Fifi Howls From Happiness" has stayed almost entirely in one apartment and yet somehow unveiled both a life in full and a blank canvas.

This an extraordinarily singular work about an extraordinary man, both elegiac and rapturous; a film befitting a true leopard.

A very personal portrait of the modern Persian artist, Bahman Mohasses, with many intimate nuances, till his death. Some parts were also relevant for a reconstruction of the history of Persian modern art.

There are no words to explain the complex emotions that you feel throughout this movie. Spoken by someone who is not so keen on documentaries. A must see.

Elegantly human. A portrait of an artist at the end of his life. In between his wheezy laughing and mouse-like appearance, Mohassess reveals himself and makes suggestions to Mitra Farahni on how she should make her documentary - most of which respectfully she takes.
