A breathtaking directorial debut by Fran Kranz a moving film that unflinchingy addresses love, loss, forgiveness and heartbreak. The performances by all four leads are extraordinary. This film is essential viewing for all since we all will come to terms with grief, love, loss and forgiveness.

For an hour and a half ‘Mass’ largely only involves the following: Four characters, a single room and one deeply brutal conversation. On paper, it looks to be the workings of a Tony award winning stage play, with the meatiest characters any qualified actor would leap at the opportunity to sink their teeth into. As a movie, one could argue the big screen isn’t quite where this engaging but intimate chamber piece belongs. ENTER, Fran-fucking-Kranz. Actor. Writer and now debut director, delivering all the reasons to watch this on the big screen. Utterly phenomenal staging. And the the characters! Or more importantly, the actors playing them. They-are-Faultless! Not a dim note, or odd choice in the ensemble. They play their meaty roles with every inch of emotion demanded and delve head first into the dark abyss of these grieving human beings. For a movie so simply created and even filmed (taking only 10 days to shoot); this is by all definitions what cinema was created to showcase.
