Just patting himself on the back the whole way through, and the long winded story in the nightclub just for the punchline to be greeted with an expensive bill? Really? Gilligan says he wants to put Black British comedy on the map, but this special plays like a self-congratulatory victory lap with almost no real punchlines. It feels less like stand-up and more like flipping through an ordinary but immature man’s diary. I barely laughed, and even the audience sounded politely trapped.
