What's the old saw about war? That it's long periods of boredom punctuated by moments of sheer terror? Tweaked a little, the line serves pretty well as a description of Sauvage. Authentic acting, story, street sex worker, does everything, goes anywhere, longing for a connection he cannot find. Drug use, living on the streets, poor health, all add up to a short life. Finding love at last, he absorbs it, but in the end runs away from the one man who loves him. This feels real until a decision made by our central character goes against everything we learned.
