See more Jeff M @jeffmarshallmovieblogger 01/17/2024 This is undoubtedly one of the strangest and most unusual coming-of-age films that I have ever and probably will ever see. It is not entirely successful, and I feel confident that I won't be watching it again any time soon, but it certainly got under my skin, and I have to admire the filmmakers for remaining uncompromising and seemingly true to their vision. I also give a lot of credit and respect to young Stumpf, who is asked to do things in this movie that had to be scary and uncomfortable. He only has one other movie on his IMDb page, the horrible Madonna film THE NEXT BEST THING, but he comes across here naturally and without a shred of ingenue artificiality. It gets to be a bit heavy-handed at times and a plot point or two are a bit hard to swallow, but, limitations aside, I appreciate a film that I can honestly say is not quite like anything I've seen before. It's uncomfortable and unsettling, but I found it worth watching.
