Iron Lung (2026) Matt Hudson It's flawed narratively and far too long, but it has plenty to admire, strong visuals and Fischbach shows real promise as the creative force behind the project.

Marty Supreme (2025) Matt Hudson Chalamet is fantastic in this bruising drama. It's a film that will wear you down but you won't want to take your eyes off it - even if the ending is a BIG stretch

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) Matt Hudson A fantastic continuation of the story, Fiennes and Parry are sensational.

Return to Silent Hill (2026) Matt Hudson Return to Silent Hill takes one of the all-time great video game narratives and presents it like it was written in crayon and distorts what made it so engaging

I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) Matt Hudson So, so bad. Awful dialogue, paper-thin characters, weak setups, no tension or scares. The returning characters were treated with a holy reverence that felt wholly unearned, and it was all just a waste of time. Cline, Wonders, and Withers tried their best.

28 Years Later (2025) Matt Hudson Chaotic, cathartic, creepy, and strange, but very, very satisfying. Some choices won't work for all but they did for us. Boyle pushed the series into new territories whilst delivering one of the best horrors of 2025.

Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) Matt Hudson One of us was higher on this than the other. On one hand, it felt like a return to form. On the other hand, it was just the same old story repackaged as a 'rebirth'. The leads were entertaining, and some fun dino scenes elevated the thin script.

Superman (2025) Matt Hudson Was it SUPER, man? Not quite but it felt right. The emotion hit hard, the action was well-shot, the characters were well-presented. We left the film feeling lifted and positive, and that will never be a bad thing. Sidenote: Krypto was the MVP.

Thunderbolts* (2025) Matt Hudson MCU? More like MC-PUGH! Thunderbolts* feels like a step in the right direction for a franchise that has floundered. Good action, a good script, and good performances provide a fun foundation for heavier messages on grief and acceptance.

The Accountant 2 (2025) Matt Hudson Delivering far more levity than the previous effort, The Accountant 2 offers slightly more than just MOR 'dad action'. Affleck and Bernthal have good chemistry and the film delivers in its final act. Surprisingly satisfying.

A Minecraft Movie (2025) Matt Hudson Surprisingly fun film that kids and teens will love. Full of in-game references and phrases, visually, this is an interesting experience. Momoa is a standout in a film that isn't great, but still offered a fun enough time at the movies
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
The Woman in the Yard (2025) Matt Hudson Better than recent Blumhouse releases and carrying a more prestigious feel, however, Deadwyler's performance cannot save a film thin of terror and high on problematic messages
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Mickey 17 (2025) Matt Hudson Weird, bonkers, original, messy. Mickey 17 works for the majority of its runtime, offering a rollicking rid,e but it loses steam as the conclusion arrives. Wildly entertaining for the most part.

The Monkey (2025) Matt Hudson We were a little split on this. Yes, it's entertaining but the excess and overly-comedic tone may prove too much for some. Still, Perkins signature techniques shine through enough for this to be a winner.

Captain America: Brave New World (2025) Matt Hudson Whilst it has a lot to say, it never really goes beyond surface level inspection. Mackie gives his all but feels sidelined in favour of the larger MCU story. Uninspired visuals and a lacking ending don't help matters but it was entertaining nonetheless
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Love Hurts (2025) Matt Hudson Could be one of the worst films we've seen in a long while.
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Companion (2025) Matt Hudson If you stayed spoiler-free beforehand, you're in for a ride! Funny with a surprising amount of heart, this is a horror with a lot to say without compromising its more gnarlier aspects. Thatcher again shows her qualities!
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Flight Risk (2025) Matt Hudson When the most interesting aspect is Mark Wahlberg's hairstyle choice, you know you're on a hiding to nothing. Convoluted, unexciting, and painfully mediocre
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Wolf Man (2025) Matt Hudson The promise of what could have been lingers over this moody affair, and whilst the performances are committed, the film never really gets out of second gear.
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Den of Thieves: Pantera (2025) Matt Hudson Nothing really stands out in this ho-hum follow up, it's not awful but very average
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Nosferatu (2024) Matt Hudson Lush, haunting, bloody, with gorgeous cinematography, and a fabulous moustache!
Posted May 08, 2025Edit critic review
Kraven the Hunter (2024) Matt Hudson The hunt stops here. Kraven may have finally put the Sony Spider-man adjacent films to their final resting place. So, maybe he is the greatest hunter of them all...but this is hardly a movie worthy of your time.
Posted Jan 02, 2025Edit critic review
Y2K (2024) Matt Hudson Full of nostalgia for those who lived through NYE at the turn of the century. Whilst the movie isn't bad, there also isn't much to rave about. Ultimately, this is a film that begs to be on in the background and probably deliver a decent enough time.
Posted Jan 02, 2025Edit critic review
Heretic (2024) Matt Hudson Whether you agree or not with the thoughts being discussed, the fact that Hugh Grant is the one saying it makes it extremely watchable. The film stumbles towards the end, but manages to still cross the finish line before completely collapsing on itself.
Posted Jan 02, 2025Edit critic review
Red One (2024) Matt Hudson This film felt as cold as a polar bears buttocks. Not much fun or merriment to be had. It's unfortunate because there is room for a mythology-driven film series, but this one just isn't it.
Posted Jan 02, 2025Edit critic review
Wicked (2024) Matt Hudson Both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande shine in Wicked. The music, the allusions to the beloved Wizard of Oz, and all of the other pieces just click. Bring on Part 2!
Posted Jan 02, 2025Edit critic review
Mufasa: The Lion King (2024) Matt Hudson Improves on some of the styles that were the focus of criticisms from the previous "live-action" adaptation, but ultimately still fails. The songs fall flat, the story is basic, and the movie falls for all of the prequel tropes we've grown tired of.

Venom: The Last Dance (2024) Matt Hudson Venom: The Last Dance sputters to an unsatisfying conclusion that will likely leave fans of the series wishing for something more. Tom Hardy may not quite be phoning it in, but it's clear the fire has gone. Please let this be the final dance. Please.

Smile 2 (2024) Matt Hudson Smile 2 has stunning visuals, incredible production design, and genuine scares. Naomi Scott is fantastic in the lead and this is a sequel that lives up to the original - even if it may not surpass it
Posted Nov 08, 2024Edit critic review
Emilia Pérez (2024) Matt Hudson Jacques Audiard's Emilia Perez delivers a genre-bending experience that surprises with its fresh narrative and standout performances, especially from Zoe Saldaña.
Posted Nov 08, 2024Edit critic review
Alien: Romulus (2024) Matt Hudson Surprisingly great! Though less distinct then its predecessors, it boasts some franchise HOF moments along with solid performances, a cloying atmosphere, and the return of the xenomorphs in their nasty glory

Speak No Evil (2024) Matt Hudson One of us loved the ending, the other less so - but the film, overall, is strong and powered by great performances and a a real sense of dread.
Posted Oct 11, 2024Edit critic review
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) Matt Hudson It's not perfect, but it manages to captures the fun of the original without leaning TOO hard into nostalgia. Keaton is having a blast and it was a joy to spend some time in the presence of the Ghost with the Most once again.
Posted Oct 11, 2024Edit critic review
The Substance (2024) Matt Hudson The Substance is bold, brave, and bloody disgusting - and it's so damn good. Moore and Qualley are top-tier, the effects are excellent, and we never want to eat shrimp again.
Posted Oct 11, 2024Edit critic review
Megalopolis (2024) Matt Hudson Just...just awful. Directionless indulgence.
Posted Oct 11, 2024Edit critic review
Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) Matt Hudson Muddled, messy, and unfocused, Folie à Deux could have been compelling and powerful...but that would have required a different director...and a lead with more interest this time around. Sidenote: Needed more Gaga.

Longlegs (2024) Matt Hudson Is it the most haunting film in years? No. Is it as good as the films it takes inspiration from? No. But Longlegs is still an engaging and, at times, violent and deliciously tense ride anchored by Monroe's confident performance.
Posted Aug 23, 2024Edit critic review
Cuckoo (2024) Matt Hudson Singer delivers real tension and atmosphere alongside Schafer's strong performance, but the film feels like a collection of solid sequences that weren't stitched together perfectly.
Posted Aug 23, 2024Edit critic review
Twisters (2024) Matt Hudson A perfectly decent, if not entirely thrilling, summer blockbuster. Glenn Powell is as charming as ever, and Daisy Edgar Jones continues her hot streak, and the film is better with them in it - as there isn't a lot else happening.
Posted Aug 23, 2024Edit critic review
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) Matt Hudson It's light on story and substance, but heavy on fun, gags, action, and chemistry from our charismatic leads.
Posted Aug 23, 2024Edit critic review
Trap (2024) Matt Hudson Started strong with an exciting premise, but quickly fell away once it became a glorified concert film. Hartnett tries his best though Saleka should stick to singing rather than acting...
Posted Aug 23, 2024Edit critic review
Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024) Matt Hudson Tonally messy and lacking the thrills of before, but whilst the game is wearing thin now, there is just enough here to keep things entertaining.
Posted Jun 18, 2024Edit critic review
The Unexpecteds (2024) Matt Hudson A solid action comedy that shows great promise from its ever-evolving filmmaker, despite some of the character dynamics not always clicking into place. The Unexpecteds is an enjoyable romp and certainly worth your time. Recommended!
Posted Jun 07, 2024Edit critic review
In a Violent Nature (2024) Matt Hudson A fun experiment with the slasher genre that rewards fans until the weak ending, though it falls squarely into the style over substance category.
Posted Jun 07, 2024Edit critic review
Civil War (2024) Matt Hudson Garland delivers a thrilling experience and a lot of ideas for audiences to puzzle over while offering no definitive answers. Packed with excellent sound design, cinematography, action and performances, Civil War is a must-see movie.
Posted Apr 18, 2024Edit critic review
Irish Wish (2024) Matt Hudson It's polished, it's saccharine, it's predictable as hell, and it's also a bit rubbish. Lohan's charm isn't able to elevate the source material enough to recommend people watch.
Posted Mar 22, 2024Edit critic review
Lisa Frankenstein (2024) Matt Hudson Much like the monster at the center of its story, Lisa Frankenstein is missing a few things necessary to make it a masterpiece and has more than its share of tonal issues...but it's still an overall entertaining movie.
Posted Feb 15, 2024Edit critic review
Wonka (2023) Matt Hudson Much like his chocolate, Wonka contains some ingredients that don't make any sense yet the film manages to mostly satisfy. Chalamet is charming, most of the gags land, but a feeling of pointlessness hangs over the whole thing.
Posted Dec 20, 2023Edit critic review
Napoleon (2023) Matt Hudson Soulless, messy, and flat (that's just Napoleon's sex moves). Ridley ripped the dynamite from the name and chucked it at the historic figure, but Napoleon is a bit to choppy to call a masterpiece as it's more like the director's Waterloo.

It's a Wonderful Knife (2023) Matt Hudson It’s A Wonderful Knife is an entertaining film with an appreciation for one of the classics. The performances in the film are solid, and horror films like this deserve some love. Does it waver in its execution at times? Yes, but it's enjoyable nonetheless
