The dashing, mysterious Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi), after hypnotizing a British soldier, Renfield (Dwight Frye), into his mindless slave, travels to London and takes up residence in an old castle. Soon Dracula begins to wreak havoc, sucking the blood of young women and turning them into vampires. When he sets his sights on Mina (Helen Chandler), the daughter of a prominent doctor, vampire-hunter Van Helsing (Edward Van Sloan) is enlisted to put a stop to the count's never-ending bloodlust.

Dracula is a classic horror film that I enjoyed watching. I really liked Bella Lugosi’s performance as Count Dracula in this movie. This movie has its problems but it’s a classic that I appreciated watching.

I Am Dracula The production design in this is incredible. The old movie sets remind me of theater sets, but this feels more realistic and lived in. Dracula's castle looks intimidating and gloomy. The black and white adds to the tone, and the fog at night gives it an eerie haunted house feel. I love the black shadows on Dracula's face. Even the creaking castle gate is chilling. The castle feels grand, old, and like a real timeworn place. It's also crazy seeing Renfield go from a normal person to Dracula's completely loyal dog. The performances are great. I found the pacing and production dipped once we got to London. I've also seen so many vampire movies that this feels like it's explaining things I already know from hundreds of other vampire movies, which made it feel slower. I also found Van Helsing to be a bit of a bore. Still, the atmosphere and production design make this worth watching.
