Jack F @MovieFan111 14h Darkest home invasion movie I've ever seen that's for sure. At first it wasn't bad, but it got progressively worse. This movie is also part dark comedy. That "rewind" scene was crushing. It's like the two men are demons spawned from earth and were bored and decided to invade someone's home... It was crazy how nonchalant they were and calculating. There is even a moment that seems to acknowledge this directly, reinforcing the idea that Haneke wants to make the audience uncomfortable not only with the violence, but with the act of consuming it. The performances are outstanding, and despite the film rarely relying on graphic imagery, what you hear can sometimes be far more disturbing than what you see. The psychological impact comes from anticipation, implication, and the feeling that the audience itself is being manipulated. Final Thought: A disturbing and intelligent piece of cinema that turns the viewer into part of the experiment. Not an easy film to watch, and certainly not one for everyone — but absolutely worth experiencing if you can handle what Haneke is trying to do. See more Alex F @AlexFinch Jun 20 When you market a movie as a thriller and then finger-wag at the audience for expecting a thriller (but only after they’ve paid you their sweet sweet movie ticket money of course), you’re not a radical film legend. You’re just a guy with a moral superiority complex who hates his own audience. This film is like watching paint dry, randomly interwoven with a guy staring at the screen and telling you that you’re a very very bad person for watching this movie. Don’t bother. Half the visuals are other people reacting to the thriller movie that we don’t see, and the other half is Anna sitting there staring at a wall while German motorcross plays in the background. I want two hours of my life back. This isn’t church, so quit the preaching. Also, "horror movies make you evil" is some satanic panic bull that should’ve been left in the 80’s, not a decent basis of a movie.
