Extremely shy Lars (Ryan Gosling) finds it impossible to make friends or socialize. Funny, a great performance from Gosling. But why? I think Gosling has a lot in common with Clark Gable, but here he is the anti-Gable. He plays a character who does absolutely nothing for himself, who benefits from the long suffering coddling of his town. It’s like a stereotype of the Boomer-Millennial parent relationship.
