Alissa G @AliceLee Jan 11 My whole family enjoyed this movie on VHS when it came out, and now we watch it streaming with two new generations of the family. It’s one of the few movies that we can all still enjoy. I’m always stymied by the snarky reviews of those film. Some people have lost the ability to just enjoy a feel-good, light-hearted movie. It’s rom-com, without being mushy, it’s got sexy without being inappropriate for young viewers, and it is funny. There aren’t many movies that make me literally laugh out loud, particularly after the first viewing…it’s just fun. If you love fashion, you’ll love it (including furs, which isn’t something you will see again in cinema). Every single outfit JoBeth, Tom, and Coral wear in this 1984 movie would look in fashion today. If you love seeing the highlights of France, you’ll love it. Anyone who enjoys romance novels and romantic comedies will love it. If you liked Charade, watch this. Jobeth Wiliams became my brother's crush. It is light hearted with wonderful views of Paris. Don't read the nasty comments just watch it and you will see why after all these years it is still one of my favourites. If you are a woman particularly over 50, you will remember a time when romantic novels were everywhere. Women of every age and status were scarfing them down. This trend even moved me off mysteries for a few years (his hot breath on her tender thigh, ha) This movie will make you scream with laughter while poking a light-hearted finger in the eye of the genre. I have to say it's not my favorite movie alone, my husband loves it as well and will pull out the cd and watch when he needs a laugh. I wish we could buy it digitally. See more Read all reviews
