Alex T @Arlilang28 Aug 27 Awake is a master work in creating a strong and complex narrative that is also able to fit in the 80 minute runtime. Though it initially struggles with showing v.s. telling, there is symbolism that can be very easily missed by taking the literal meaning of things. Most characters have a very well rounded arc for better or for worse, though it's disappointing that the narration flips from Clayton's perspective to a broader point of view to encompass plot points the writers were unable to fit in naturally. However, it is a great movie for people who either want something to follow idly with the element of surprise but also be able to really dig into the symbolism and allusion if they wish. The insanely well thought out plot had me on the edge of my seat the entire last half of the movie, and I was yelling at the screen rooting for Clayton the whole time. Furthermore, ending was absolutely amazing and gave great closure to the film. Overall 10/10 would strongly recommend watching after experiencing this masterpiece of a film, which was infinitely more amazing because of Hayden. Well, he's as full of life and as convincing in this movie than in Anakin's role. The whole thing is predictable, badly acted, corny, and just plain boring.
