A poorly constructed, derivative sci-fi stinker with a weak script and poor action sequences.

I call it (sneeringly, natch) the 'New Nihilism,' but, to be fair, it's really just the old, Franco-Prussian existential angst hole ratcheted up and dumbed down for our not so brave new world. Go to Full Review

Defenders contest that Matthieu Kassovitz's director's cut is preferable. It certainly couldn't have a more incomprehensible ending. Silver lining? Vin Diesel remembered that movie where a sub cracks the ice and did it better a decade later. Go to Full Review

There are some high ideas to be found buried beneath all the rubble, but they're so obscured by the banal, hyperactive action scenes that they don't really register. Go to Full Review

Tony M @tonymedleyjuniorjr 2 days ago This movie is a Phobe with Snacks. It's a Blade Runner/Children of Men Clone that falls somewhere in between the Transporter and XXX. I don't know why it was necessary to start in the middle of the movie then rewind back. Everybody's performances felt really wooden and unconvincing especially Aurora Borealis. The movie takes too long to get going while some how explaining nothing about the world they're in. The third act was really plot lift off. But then after the big act last Action scene the movie crawls to the end. Then when the movie ends it ends so nihilistically it just makes me wonder what was the point of watching all of that. AOff: VD by default 5HM: What is this movie about? GD: Memory Surfing OOOOOOPPPP See more Cork B @RT87142816 5 days ago Could have been a lot better. It felt like there was a deep AI Blade Runner story they were going for, and at the last minute said 'cut all the exposition and plot points and just have Vin look tough and hit people'. The movie clearly has a lot of money behind it, but for all that, the stunts look cheesy, and the action scenes are shot in shaky cam in dark raves, so you cannot tell what is going on. Michelle Yeoh is in here for some reason I cannot fathom, and the little bit of martial arts she did were all blurred by the shaky cam. Mark Strong = wasted. Vin is ok, but he is just a bit too unlikeable unlike other actors that can pull off the rogue anti hero. I guess I liked the Necromancer movie he was in better.
