Critics Consensus

Wicker is a charming fable that strikes the right balance between naughty and nice, drawing much of its appeal from deftly deployed salty humor, seamless creature effects, and Olivia Colman's eminently lovable performance.

It’s a strange and amusing world conjured by Tóth András Dániel and Godena-Juhász Attila’s costumes and Renátó Cseh’s sets, then given a touch of the Yorgos Lanthimos thanks to cinematographer Lol Crowley’s cold but beautiful images.

It’s heavy on the whimsy from the get-go, but the whimsy is anchored.

"Wicker" is a joyously bawdy fairy tale, a cheeky remix of "Beauty and the Beast," and a sly satire of social hierarchies, with some poignant themes of mortality. It is wildly unexpected and a ton of fun.

All of this creates a drily funny, lived-in world where a man made of wicker isn’t shocking so much as a threat to unhappy, repressed normies.

WICKER makes such a convincing argument against convention and cynicism – mostly with its open heart, occasionally with gleeful mayhem.

...a deliberately crude and bawdy tale, but also one which resolves itself with a firm morality and an upbeat ending; this looks like folk horror, but Wicker is actually fairly wholesome and the performances aren’t as wooden as you might expect…

This movie felt lonely. I thought the wicker husband would have more personality but it felt he lacked autonomy.

It was a sweet movie but I wouldn’t say it’s a must see. The Wicker husband was very loving

Plays on all your emotions while making you laugh. Very fun experience seeing it in a theater with everyone emoting out loud together. Let's normalize not pushing people into old fashioned roles and life stages.
