Overall, Black Box is slick, atmospheric and occasionally unsettling, but its familiar premise, underdeveloped characters and uneven screenplay prevent it from rising above genre convention.

'Black Box' is cheesy. Consciously so, in fact. An amalgamation of clichés and references to other, better films, held together by a flimsy plot that hides nothing more than what's immediately obvious. [Full review in Spanish]

The tacky sci-fi horror film Black Box weakly imitates 1979's Alien (outer-space monsters that kill humans) and has the deadly creatures on an airplane instead of a spaceship. This stupid movie's plot twist rips off another horror movie classic.

...I didn’t expect too much from this supernatural sci-fi horror fantasy hybrid, but it absolutely delivered more than I ever anticipated. I find myself wanting a sequel to dive deeper into the world-building presented, which is always a good thing.

Such a shame because there was potential here but somehow it was all wasted with a truly absurd script full of holes and inconsistencies. It just didn’t know what it wanted to be from one moment to the next.

This film was awful. The acting was terrible throughout, and the only decent part was the brief moment we actually got to see the alien creature attacking the passengers. Unfortunately, that did not last long, and the rest of the movie was just the characters complaining. Even the dogs did a better job than the human actors. I cannot believe I wasted my time watching this. Do not watch it.
