This second horror anthology presents more eerie tales based on Stephen King stories. One episode finds a cigar-store Native American statue coming to life to avenge the death of the shop owner (George Kennedy) and his wife (Dorothy Lamour). Another features a group of teens menaced by a blob-like creature. The final installment follows a wealthy and callous woman (Lois Chiles) who hits a hitchhiker with her car and decides to flee the scene, but the victim isn't inclined to remain dead.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Not even the melding of Stephen King and George A. Romero's writing sensibilities can elevate this spineless anthology, which is too simple in its storytelling and too skimpy on the genuine scares.

George Romero contributes the screenplay this time, basing it on some tastefully selected Stephen King morsels. Go to Full Review Variety Staff Variety Mar 26, 2009
Tied together with some humdrum animated sequences, three vignettes on offer obviously were produced on the absolute cheap, and are deficient in imagination and scare quotient. Go to Full Review Janet Maslin New York Times May 20, 2003

The episodes are marginally interesting, but each is a little too long. And each could be fully explained in a one-sentence synopsis. Go to Full Review Richard Freedman Newark Star-Ledger Jan 6, 2026
One of the many repulsive things about "Creepshow 2" is the repetitive, simple-minded moralizing that blights all three paper-thin stories. Go to Full Review Tom Atkinson Flickering Myth Oct 24, 2025

Seen afresh, Creepshow 2 feels like a relic from a time when horror wore its artifice proudly. It’s rough around the edges, occasionally crass, and sometimes clumsy, but that’s part of its charm Go to Full Review Jeff Beck The Blu Spot Sep 29, 2025

In the end, one amusingly over-the-top story simply isn't enough to sustain the entire film, ultimately making Creepshow 2 a disappointing follow-up to what had been a unique & solidly-entertaining horror anthology. Go to Full Review Read all reviews

I've watched them both back to back for the first time only in 2026, and had fun. This sequel has less stories but 3 that they are are more fun then some in a first film. Third one was a standout - hilarious and funny. Practical effects in "Creepshow 2" are amazing, especially in third episode. Stories are simple yet effective. Acting varied from good to so so to good. Overall, to my surprise considering a low rating of "Creepshow 2" I did enjoyed it as much as the first one. More simple, tightly paced but never boring, with terrific practical effects (Tom Savini!) this film is a pure fun. See more Joaquin U @Joaquin1 Apr 16, 2026 Somewhat entertaining, but nowhere near the fun of the original. Cheap all around, and with King and Romero, you’d expect more—this is amateur hour. Watchable if your game gets rained out and you’re stuck inside. See more Thomas H. @Hitman777gb Feb 25, 2026 One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
