Lauren, a newly divorced, sober mom, feels like she has a new lease on life after joining her first acting class and starting a fling with her hot, young scene partner. However, when they attend their Gen Z classmate's wedding together, things begin to fall apart, and Lauren finds herself behaving like a drunk 25-year-old bridesmaid. Luckily after a disastrous night she stumbles into a new day and a new beginning.

It takes awhile for this to get rolling with Landecker sometimes taking situations to extreme for emotion or laughs. But she develops her character better in situations she has obviously experienced herself, with a chance For Better in the end.

Somehow this is filmed like a Tv series like Parks and Rec and the Office, with a very loose story and a lot of improvised conversations and sexual jokes and gags with big MAIN CHARACTER SYNDROME. The usage of modern slang and terminology is forceful and there are so many unnecessary dancing scenes in the third act. The main theme of dating and sexualized age gaps not being a problem is very weird in today's age.

Amy Landecker is funny, winning, charming and great in this fun, heartfelt, funny comedy. Amy's writing and directing debut is good fun. Her writing and directing is impressive for her debut.

For Worse is a film that feels like it should be compelling, especially for anyone familiar with the struggles of trying to break into acting, but it ultimately falls flat. The premise has potential—a woman striving to become an actress, navigating the challenges of the industry—but the execution leaves much to be desired. The screenplay is heavy-handed, filled with dialogue that often feels forced or overly trying, preventing the story from fully engaging the viewer. The pacing struggles, with brief moments of promise followed by long stretches of flat, uninspired scenes that fail to create real emotional momentum. The cast does what they can, but even their performances feel muted, making it difficult to connect with the characters or invest in their journeys. There are fleeting glimpses of energy or interesting moments, but they never last long enough to give the story traction. Overall, For Worse is not offensive or unwatchable, but it is a messy uneven film
