Bisquiteen T 5d I have a deep hatred of all things "true crime" that basically approach it in a cutesy or otherwise exploitative way. "Teehee, this is a whole community's collective tragedy, but stay sexy, don't get murdered!" Shut the HELL UP. People are DEAD. I like that the male lead is a horror aficionado, because it frames his interest in crime as entertainment, not as a serious subject of study, same as those SSDGM idiots. Solid script, solid acting, solid hybrid use of "found footage"-style and traditional camera work. The most unbelievable part is that the guy who's into sensationalism is the one who gets cut out. That's what sells! BE SEXY NO GET MURDERED! Still, it's an interesting question - what is really "too far" as true crime goes? I'd say most of it. All of it? God, I hate this trend of "true crime podcasts" that are so dismissive of the subjects. The movie is a bit confused as to who gets views, but it's got the right idea as to WHO SHOULD (if anyone). Ending could use a lot of work.
