Because it's still about Michael Myers, it all feels epic and larger than life in a way few of those other films do. Go to Full Review

The result, though undeniably preferable to yet another misbegotten installment of the long-exhausted franchise, certainly doesn't compare to John Carpenter's landmark original film. Go to Full Review

Taking 50 minutes to get to the present where the original took five, here we are offered something resembling justification for why poor little Mikey beat and stabbed his way to infamy. Go to Full Review

It may not be the standout Zombie was hoping for, but Halloween finds its own brutal identity along the way while still honoring the original it is based on. Go to Full Review

Sam @SamColacito 6d My Rotten Tomatoes score: 🦠 I have very mixed feelings on Halloween (2007). On one hand, it's the most unique Halloween film in that half of it goes into Michael Myers' backstory and how he became the killer that he is. It also allows for his family to have personalities instead of immediately getting killed or taken out of the story. Granted, their personalities are absolutely garbage and offensive, but they are personalities nonetheless. The first half of the movie alone makes me believe that Rob Zombie genuinely wanted to make a good Halloween remake instead of just a shot for shot remake. On the other hand, that's exactly what the second half of the movie is. The latter half has almost no originality to it and is a shortened down, more violent recreation of the 1978 film. The first half I do think is pretty decent, but the second half is what really drags it down for me. See more Steven F. @SteveGotScored Feb 9 Easily one of my favorite horror remakes of all time! Rob Zombie is the man! See more Freddy S. @BartierNBhardonnay Dec 11 Beautiful horror film Best adaptation of Michael and his story See more Oliver C. @ocook005 Nov 27 Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) is a grimy, brutal, and surprisingly empathetic reimagining that adds compelling backstory at the cost of some suspense, landing as a solid-but-flawed 3.5-star slasher experience. See more John B. @rjcartoonist69 Nov 12 Lame, uninspired, nothing new, same familiar plot points & worst of all..mean-spirited! See more Robert H Nov 3 These movie critics read way too much into movies. I thought it was terrific I thought it gave more of a background into Michael Myers. How he was physically and mentally abused. And definitely scary as hell just like the original. See more Read all reviews
