I originally liked this film for Kristen Stewart but remembered not liking the girlfriend but on a rewatch I'm surprised I couldn't remember how bad it was. It's really not funny, friend character is a straw man for liberals that you're not meant to take serious, Harper the love interest is emotionally manipulative, withholding, abuses and takes advantage of Abby's (Kristen) love & her trauma with family. I'm constantly thinking Abby can do better & settling with Harper, plus her family are traditionalists and Abby has to listen to take it and it's never really dealt with or acknowledged as a major problem. There is only so much goodwill Harpers character deserves & it's not enough that Abby shouldn't have left her at the first act or for Riley. In another queer piece of media Harper would be the red flag character. Dont know why the heck Kristen Stewart agreed to do this film. The dialogue is awful and choppy. Harper is awful. The family is so rude. The plot doesnt flow at all. Its really all so bad, it doesnt even make sense and just left me confused who wrote this and why.. Why are the twins so despressed, theyre like 5 years old? Why are the parents constantly degrading their daughters? Why are Harper and Sloane so violent? So childish. The last 10 minutes of the movie make it all a bit better, but just not nearly enough to make the previous 95% of the movie bearable. See more Read all reviews
