American submarine Capt. Joe Glass is on the hunt for a U.S. sub in distress in the Arctic Ocean. He soon learns that a secret Russian coup is in the offing, a conspiracy that threatens to dismantle the world order. Once all this starts coming together, Hunter Killer is absorbing, even if Marsh and his screenwriters never pretend to be half as interested in their characters as they are in the submarines.

It's nice to spend a couple of hours in a fictional world where we don't have to worry about the American president doing something ruinously idiotic and evil. It plays like a nostalgic fairy tale.

Great film! Action and suspense is 100%, the story is of course far fetched but it is fiction so what do people expect. Creative storyline. Great acting. Keeps you tense in your seat.

Oldman is over the top. Generally liked it. Toby Stephens keeps saying things "could get ugly" over and over. Tighter writing would have made it better. Last scene a little ridiculous considering three sunken subs full of people another few good people, but what a nice afternoon we have. Icebergs way too thin in beginning sequence.

This is a DVD I have had for years. Not even sure how I got it. It just sat there collecting dust. I knew nothing about the movie. I chose to watch it tonight and was very entertained. Really cool movie. Not one lull. Always moving!

Its ok. If you are not a fan of knowing how subs work and just focus on this movie as a movie to chill, its ok. Pretty ok effects, especially the C-RAM
