DanTheMan 2 @DanTheMan2150AD Aug 21 Transplanting everything Star Wars to a small backwater American town and filtering it through the logic of a particularly cheap Monty Python sketch, Gremloids is a wonderfully goofy good time. As the first feature-length parody of its source material, beating Spaceballs to the punch by three whole years, there's plenty of obvious parody, slapstick and broader attempts at comedy rife within its breezy runtime; unfortunately, many of its jokes fail to stick the landing, but the ones that do are hilarious, with the funniest moments coming when it abandons conventional parody altogether and embraces complete nonsense. Aside from Gremloids's unusual afterlife, it's a difficult watch to recommend; as a parody of its source material, it's pretty bad, but as a wonderfully endearing attempt to spoof one of the biggest movies ever made on the cheap, it's magnificent. I only wish it were available in a better quality for the world to see. See more Read all reviews
