Following the end of apartheid in South Africa during the 1990s, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was established to pursue social justice, and this acclaimed documentary focuses on some of the stories that emerged from the organization's cases. Although renowned leader Bishop Desmond Tutu appears, the film focuses primarily on everyday people, both white and black, who committed appalling crimes during apartheid and came to the commission seeking forgiveness.

Nov 26, 2013 Fascinating and often heart-breaking look at a very complicated country. See more Mar 4, 2011 A documentary about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which exists after apartheid in South Africa. Wow-it was horrifying, messy yet real. This film went through four of the trails and showed the worst and best of humankind. A great watch for anyone who is interested in South Africa and/or healing after wrongs on a national level. See more Jan 16, 2009 Good documentary to watch after you've just scene Cry Freedom...what a horror apartheid was... See more Jun 26, 2008 Raw, dispassionate documentary about the last years and aftermath of apartheid in South Africa, and the healing power of truth, recognition and even reconciliation. See more May 5, 2008 It's easy to forget what happened in South Africa, what happened in Nazi Germany, etc. This helps you to remember, and has some really frightening parallels to this so-called "war on terror": Apartheid-supporting Afrikaners killed non-whites because they were "terrorists."
