I am so glad I never listen to these artsy fartsy critics, some of the worst slowest, yawn fests I have seen have been given huge stars by these people who are paid to talk rubbish. I have watched some shocking films going off of their reviews. I will only ever listen to the normal film watching cinema going people, Denzel Washington is one of those actors, that if he is in a film, 9/10 you know it will be a good film. No one has ever said it was a bad film that I know of. One critic wrote violent and not for kids, where was it advertised as a kids film, adults are allowed to watch films without their kids!! Ridiculous. 22 years later, and still as good as the first watch.. absolute great film that doesn’t age. I do think that the average everyday person should be given a critics job… there have been some great films that critics have raved about, but I just don’t trust their judgement anymore and will find out for myself See more Dennis B @RT05072423 Aug 2 It is stunning how wrong critics are about Man on Fire. This is a heartfelt view into conflicting cultures, goals, and demographics. Washington is at his vulnerable best - Fanning's performance is supernatural - even the rest of the cast is perfect. The character development from beginning to end is what the "art" is for. It's someone who had a problem and didn't like kids and then will go to any length and eventually death, to get that friend/kid back. It also shows that the end result doesn't always turn out like you'd hope and despite wanting a good ending, not everything turns out for the best. However, is life better for Creasy or is it better that he dies so he no longer has to feel the pain of living? He did save the girl and became a good guy before they made him do bad things.
