The first half felt cheaper and louder than I expected, until the midpoint, from where on the tone and pace changed, and despite all the brutality, instead of horror, it left me with a surprisingly deep sadness.

Despite some individuals saying that people who like this movie aren't good human beings, I can't help thinking that "Martyrs" is one of the best horror movies made in the 2000s and the best horror movie under the New French Extremity's umbrella. It's layered, it makes you think about it, it has a deep ending, it's disturbing, it's action-packed... It deserves to be a classic

Brutal and absolutely intense stuff! Most certainly not for the weak at heart. Every member of the cast plays their part. Director Pascal Laugier does an amazing job. I recommend it. It is a thrill ride which is confusing and relentless at times.
