Bur'moe M @Burrmoe Jul 28 Amazing movie. I'm currently writing a novel myself that takes place in Paris and need movies like this to give me a good idea of what Paris is like. I got recommended this movie by IMDb, and I could proudly say it gave me a wonderful idea of Paris, from the settings to the characters, monuments, landmarks, and the French language. Owen Wilson did an amazing job as the character Gil; as a writer myself, I can relate to Owen Wilson's character (Gil) in many ways, and it bettered my experience watching this movie. I personally enjoyed it and would recommend it! See more Alex B @AlexBioni Jul 19 Chasing Yesterday Midnight in Paris is a really unique movie that kept me engaged the whole time. It is beautifully shot and reminded me a lot of Before Sunrise. Owen Wilson is great in the lead, and everyone else fits their roles perfectly. By the end, all I wanted to do was eat some cheese, drink a glass of wine, and wander the streets of Paris. My biggest issue is that it drags in places. Some of the dialogue felt a little flat, although I could not always tell if it was the writing or the delivery. I actually liked the name dropping of famous writers and artists at first, but by the twelfth time it started to feel like the Avengers assembling for literature fans, and I found myself rolling my eyes. Overall, I had a really good time with this one. It is an original story that feels different from most movies, and I think it makes for a great date night watch. The movie has a wonderful premise, but completely jettisons its promise by Allen’s use of his most usual go-to’s: relational infidelity and it’s consequences and choices, which he tiredly cross examines yet again in a movie. The entire back end of the movie plays this way, and just feels mired in Déjà vu. If only Allen had avoided his fall-back tropes he would have made one of his best movies, akin to Purple Rose of Cairo in fantasy/reality splitting. I was captivated by the idea of walking the city, the rain, being present while being a dreamer, everything. Owen Wilson and the supporting cast do an excellent job. I finished the movie and immediately wanted to start it again. When it starts to rain at the end. Raining on the streets of Paris. Best Piece of Score: "Bistro Fada" Note: The second Rachel McAdams said "mom and dad" and not "my mom and dad", I knew that she was trouble.
