What to Know

Critics Consensus

A star-studded turkey, Movie 43 is loaded with gleefully offensive and often scatological gags, but it's largely bereft of laughs.

This is a film so utterly devoid of laughs that it makes one wonder whether Hollywood stars really are feeling the pinch too. Go to Full Review

There is not a single redeeming quality to this absurdly inane film. Go to Full Review

Despite all the gross-out humor, the most offensive thing about this is the lazy filmmaking; every shot feels like a first take, and the haphazard editing precludes any comic timing. Go to Full Review

It strands an incredible cast in unwatchable shorts and then expects people to actually waste time and possibly money to witness this train wreck. Go to Full Review

Johnny R @RT08810596 1d This move is basically a series of sketches loosely tied together with a premise. Some may not like that, which is understandable. It is low brow humor and if you like low brow humor you will like this movie. It is very funny. Now the upside of the sketch series approach is there is a variety of humor in it with each sketch being its own thing. This is a movie the critics would never lower themselves to even suggest a nice thing about it and it gets endlessly trashed. But if you like low brow humor the fact is you are going to find this really funny. I laughed a lot in this film and it has been some time since Hollywood put out a comedy that was really funny. If you don't like low brow or crude humor then this movie is not for you but if you do like that kind of humor do yourself a favor and watch it. It is worth it. See more Simon B @RT51498030 6d A lot of silly sketches to watch if you're just in the mood for something stupid and funny to watch. Some of the most hilarious moments of cringe you will ever see. Many critics here seem to lack a sense of humour. See more Elison G @ElisonG Aug 19 Pretty gross but some parts were comedic didn’t laugh though See more Maggie C @Foxraven Aug 9 It's crude. It's low-brow. It was never going to be an Oscar contender, but if you want just to let go of adulting for a moment and laugh, this is the movie for you. Its skit-like format works well and shows off a talented ensemble of actors from Hugh Jackman to Emma Stone to Jason Sudeikis and Halle Berry. Plus so many more! There are so many well-known actors in this movie. It is a testament to their sense of humor. Just don''t go into it expecting it to be something it's not. It's a bunch of great actors doing bizarre skits. I am really surprised by how low the score was for this movie, when some other movies that were a snoozefest, had poor writing, and lacked any interesting characters have high ratings here on RT. For example, I would rather watch this movie 100 times more than having to watch the oh-so-boring, not-a-single-laugh "family friendly" Solo Mio again, which has a 95% popcornmeter. How is that even possible? See more Eugene B @RT51025021 Jul 16 Its funny. Stupid funny that is . Turn your brain off funny . So who wants a witty smart comedy look somewhere else lol See more Shane S @Puggy541 Jul 8 It's certainly not a movie that everyone will enjoy, and in fact I can understand a lot of people being upset by it's almost clinical attempt to demand a reaction of disgust or contempt from it's viewers. Saying that, I like this movie a lot. It's an absurdist skit comedy that dredges deep into some of the most wild and messed up scenarios that you could imagine, and just when you think it can't get any worse, it always manages to dig the grave even deeper. You're going to need a very dark sense of humor to enjoy this film, and I wouldn't recommend watching it with anyone that doesn't have a stomach of lead. Give it a try, if you don't like the first 10 minutes, you're going to hate the rest of it. Just don't yuck on my yum. See more Read all reviews
