raza M @honestbusk Mar 10, 2026 In a sea of predictable coming-of-age stories, Not By the Book stands out by refusing to play it safe. What starts as a fun premise about a 'professional' school cheater quickly evolves into a nuanced look at integrity, friendship, and the pressures of perfection. Also known as "Ask the Cheat this is a clever, high-energy ride that feels like a modern spiritual successor to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It balances a fast-paced comedy vibe with a surprising amount of heart. The lead performances are magnetic, and the script is sharp enough to keep adults just as entertained as the target audience. A total blast! The chemistry between the leads is the film's secret weapon, grounding the more heightened moments of the plot in real emotion. It’s stylish, funny, and surprisingly poignant. If you're looking for a movie that treats its audience as smart as its protagonists, this is a must-watch. See more Read all reviews
