Over the Moon's emotional journey is solid and well-expressed. Again, it draws on calculated iconography... But Fei Fei's emotional journey is a universal story about feeling pain and learning to move on.

This is a colorful, enjoyable animated film with beautiful visuals, catchy songs, and a sweet message about grief and family. But for me, it feels mainly aimed at kids, with a familiar story and some overly flashy moments. The emotional parts work, but the film never becomes anything truly special.

Honestly this movie was disappointing. The beginning of the movie started strong and had potential then the middle of the movie fell flat and the story felt more like filler rather than intentional. I understand this is classified as a musical but to have a song every other breath is redundant and annoying. Animation CG was amazing but is irrelevant if the story isn’t felt. Kid friendly but pointless to show them unless you want to just kill time.

I just found it annoying TBH - with those strangely strong American accents trying to pretend to be authentic Chinese... but like Chinese TV series, the logic is just so messed up. It tries to get through entire sequences with absolutely no story other than swirling colours and 'oooh magic' to the point that obstacles are entirely arbritrary and the story pointless.
