av 8 @anagha.vinay 6d I plunged into this expecting a phenomenal science-fiction, instead I was met with the rawest possible emotions. As primal beings, it remains in our innate nature to crave connection—for touch; for love. When we are hardwired to want a partner, how long can one go on alone with the whole world within just a stone's throw? The moral dilemma and the emotional predicament meet at crossroads. What he did could never be justified, but his actions can never be dismissed as something no one in his shoes would do. The science aspects of it are stupid and silly as fuck—really laughable, but the mundanity is epic. This was never about a voyage to Homestead II. It is about the expedition that is life, and everything we are willing to do to be alive and feel alive. The duo is phenomenal and delivers beautiful performances. Arthur is also such a cherishable gentleman. A brave movie. See more Craig H @Duken4evr Aug 23 On the fence with this one. It deserves better than 30%, that's just too harsh. In scholastic parlance, I give it a solid C+ and C's get degrees - lol Without giving anything away with the plot, this was a visually beautiful movie with an interesting moral twist. What the Jim Preston character did was morally indefensible and Aurora's response to it was realistic. Ironically if Jim hadn't done what he did things would have turned out badly for everyone. Doing the wrong thing in desperation led to the best result - that was an interesting twist. Jim didn't ask to be put in that situation after all, good thing for all of those fictional characters he was. Jim is a get it done kinda guy and Aurora is no slouch either. 75% rating from me. With our planet using resources and exposure to chemicals hard to say if we exist forever on earth. I believe in thinking outside the box. A new movie or script with several ships embarking for a new world not Star Trek but real story lines of problems along the way. Innovations solved by brilliant minds and those thinking outside the box. This movie gave me inspiration and imagination of a different world for future generations. So hence my rating of 4 stars. Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence have enough chemistry to keep the story engaging, while the production design and visuals create an immersive atmosphere. The biggest problem is the moral dilemma at the center, which the film doesn't explore deeply enough. Still, it's an enjoyable and emotionally engaging space adventure. See more Nick D @RT13008950 Aug 20 The plot never really did anything interesting and what could’ve been a cool concept ends up falling flat. The movie feels like another generic hallmark romance movie whose only trope is that it is set in space. Jennifer Lawrence is hot as always and Chris Pratt does a nice job with his character but such big name actors aren’t enough to save a terrible script. The movie does have some strengths sprinkled around but they ultimately fail to connect in any meaningful way. Pratt is shockingly charmless and unappealing in this role, and that ruins the movie from the start. His lack of range and failure to appear as an 'everyman' makes all of his copious screen time painful to watch. His decision to wake up a beautiful woman because he's lonely is unforgivable, no matter the contrived justifications the script cobbles in. Lawrence is the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal, space creep odyssey. Watch only if you want something to mock. See more Read all reviews
