Questioning the moral fortitude of these comedies used to be something only critics did [...] Now 'Roommates' is getting in on the act and I respect the film’s sense of introspection. I just wish it had funnier jokes. Go to Full Review

[While the] framing device is purposefully heighted, Sandler and East are fantastic at bringing a level of emotional realism to Devon and Celeste’s complicated bond, which is two parts Girls, one part Single White Female. Go to Full Review

Roommates might not rival the fizzy, formative teen films it both references (Clueless) and often directly cribs from (Mean Girls) but it still belongs in a different league to what we’re mostly served right now. Go to Full Review

A film that mistakes passive aggressiveness for character development, confuses chaos and comedy, Roommates is unhinged, and not for any particular narrative reward. Go to Full Review

Roommates is a charming, if imperfect, college comedy. The absurd nature of the final act really helps sell the overall experience, but clocking in at an hour and forty-five minutes does test the audience. Go to Full Review

There’s a lot of rich kid stuff in this movie, which I also found hard to relate to, although I do think clashing with your college roommate is a pretty universal experience (if you didn’t good for you!!) Go to Full Review

Jordan S. @jswez 7h The acting was surprisingly solid and there were a couple funny moments from side characters, but overall it appears to be written for Gen Z and “woke” audiences. See more Karen F @foster.karen 7h Starts funny loses momentum See more Michael B. @BlackCloud13 10h Absolute trash. Loaded with woke DEI garbage. There isn't really any story. It stumbles along with atrocious writing, the thinnest of storylines, and falls apart as it goes. None of the characters develop any interest. I didn't care about any of them. Loaded with drug refs and horrid singing. Yikes, it's not as good as I'm conveying. There is no charm, no wit, and no redemption. One of the worst films I've ever seen. See more Shaikaya N @RT10529740 10h Absolutely loved it!! It was a mixed of emotions for me but also relatable Because I’ve been in the same situation as Devon Being the one always left out, trying sooo hard to make friends I really loved this movie and I will watch it again and again It’s a good movie to watch by yourself whilst sitting on couch and eating some chips good comfort movie Well done Sadie you did excellent See more Peter R @OceanFloor 12h Unlikeable characters, unfunny, and a story centered in such negativity that the film became a chore to sit through. I'm genuinely disappointed that this came from the minds of SNL writers, a tv show I adore. There are films that explore the angst and highly charged emotions of college that are far, far better. This was instantly forgettable. See more Yash B @yashbansal 12h "Roommates" is a decent little comedy movie that feels made for the modern age. The movie has a simple premise and plenty of hijinks and funny moments that keep it enjoyable. I do feel the whole thing has a bit of a sitcom vibe, and I wonder if it may have worked better as a TV series. I also thought the ending was a bit strange, and while it was unexpected, I am not sure how I feel about it. Overall, it is a light movie that is a decent way to kill time on streaming, but it doesn't stand out among the great college comedies either. See more Read all reviews
