In 2035, our dreams are no longer our own-they're infused with product placement and auditors assess unpaid taxes on our most private reveries. Beleaguered taxman James Preble (Kentucker Audley) arrives at a run-down house in the countryside for a routine audit and encounters Bella Isadora (Penny Fuller), a lifelong dreamer who remains resolutely analog, circumventing the surveillance state with VHS tapes and homemade headgear. As Preble works his way through Bella's archive of the unconscious, he begins to fall in love with visions of her younger self (Grace Glowicki). But all is not well in dreamland as dangerous family secrets and a rogue's gallery of blue demons and fried chicken pitchmen threaten to set the lovers' paradise ablaze. Can Preble and Bella escape from the modern, monetized dreamscape and find refuge in Strawberry Mansion?

Some bolder flights of fancy even gesture at fluffy 80s fantasy for kids like The NeverEnding Story, but always in an endearingly handmade way, which the bedroom grandeur of Dan Deacon’s score offsets at key moments.

It is like a new telling of The Odyssey wrapped in a futuristic fairytale and a dazzling feast for the senses that reminds us if we lose our dreams, we just might lose who we are. This one is not to be missed.

Very quirky weirdness. Hard to intellectualize snd summsrize briefly. You just need to experience it. Very imaginative imagery and observations about the human mind. Might not be profound, but it is amusing.

If you like weird quirky films, this might be for you. It’s very weird. Very quirk. Like I said, you might need to be into super weird films to like this. I like them, but this one was too weird and quirky for me. I stuck it out. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t watch it again
