Ro K @Kein_indianer 3d Watching this dull detective story could make you wonder how boring and badly a detective story can be told. But it's worth looking closer. Bill Finger, who created Batman, admitted how strongly he had been influenced by The Shadow – Lamont Cranston, who's called Lamont Granston here. The Shadow started a few years earlier as a detective story in The Shadow Magazine, and its success resulted in a radio series, movies, and also comics. Modern audiences might only have heard of The Shadow from the 1994 movie – a movie I love very much and which has aged brilliantly. This movie is almost a disgrace to the character. It's not badly acted, but it's directed in an absolutely amateurish way and, as mentioned before, told in a boring manner. Nevertheless, it can be seen as the father of Batman.
