In the case of The Arborist, the vehicle is certainly there, but its assemblage is haphazard, stuffed full of so many bells and whistles that it barely moves. This is a movie that wants to be many things at once, and ends up being almost none of them. Go to Full Review

Unfortunately, however, the film doesn’t resonate emotionally nor provoke psychological terror in the manner these and many other similar projects have, despite it leaning into a decent mystery and suspenseful atmosphere in its second half. Go to Full Review

It’s hard to obsess over flaws when The Arborist achieves what it sets out to do, which is casting a spell of anxiety and doom as soon as we lay eyes on the film’s effective cold open. Go to Full Review

tm11999 M @tm11999 4d yeah, i don't know. jumbled story, all 3 characters are unlikeable, weak and do dumb stuff, right from the start. the drunk baby murdering mid mom is fit, but nobody knows what's going on. go straighten up your work bench in the shop instead. See more Kier R. @day5615 Feb 8 A good buildup with an interconnecting story between characters, but the “climax” was way too long with way too many “scares”. I fell dull to the buildup and reveals. There was no break in the action, no real time to slow down and come back from a scare, or point where I thought the background music had not been playing for more than a minute. Good first 2/3 of the movie, it’s just the last 1/3 that made me excited to see credits roll. See more B P @Bradster69 Feb 6 A Collection of Tropes in Search of a Story See more Read all reviews
