Every decade has its cult teen movie. Thirty-two years ago, it was Sixteen Candles. For the '90s, it was Clueless. The early aughts had Mean Girls. Now we have The Edge of Seventeen. Go to Full Review

The performances are all captivating. Outside of some tonal inconsistencies with the Erwin (Hayden Szeto) character, there’s not much to dislike about The Edge of Seventeen. Go to Full Review

What’s so wonderful about this film is that Craig explores all of Nadine’s flaws, insecurities, naiveté, and particularly her self-loathing. In doing so she paints a fully-fleshed out portrait of teen girldom in flux. Go to Full Review

Conrad C @sosopoptart 1h If you, like me, watch this movie for Hailee Steinfeld and Woody Harrelson, you will not be disappointed because they're both great. If you watch this for a high school drama / coming of age movie, you will also not be disappointed. Just, in general, you probably won't be disappointed by this one. See more Lezani K @lezani 1d I resonate with what she’s constantly feeling, so maybe this will be a bit biased but it is such a great depiction of how complicated teenage emotions can be and even though this movie is 10 YEARS OLD, the comedy and relatability does not age. See more Ali M @AliCatRabbit Dec 28 This is a woeful depiction of teenagers that pales in comparison to any other coming of age movie I have ever seen. Total trash. Zero substance. Full of plot holes and no development of characters at all. I only watched it because of the high rating it got on here. It makes no sense. It’s so banal and unbelievable and just terrible. Do not watch. See more Blu B Oct 25 All Time Classic. You know the subject matter here doesn't break any new ground at all. It's everything that's been covered in every coming of age high school movie you can think of. But it's all done first rate. Really good cinematography, hilarious rauchy sharp humor that never misses a beat and feels so natural. It doesn't result to using a bunch of millenial/Gen Z slang terms or trying to be cool. It's really smart and clever stuff that gets chuckles and real big laughs 90% of the time. Music is really good too but I wish it was a bit more catchy on its own. Everything else is masterful. Aside from the raunchy humor the other two things that make this soar is Steinfeld & the pacing. This is her film and she is the star carrying this thing on her back and hits it out of the park. In a span of minutes you'll hit every emotion a teen goes through. Nervous, disgusted, sad, angry, and everything in between. And it just never stops throwing so many crazy situations and just making you feel like your in a whirlwind of emotions, crazy situations, and laughs all at once. It's overwhelming. It knows perfectly when to make you laugh and when to be serious and cool it very naturally without overcorrecting. The characters are beyond flawed, fasinating, and funny. And despite how flawed and sometimes terrible they are you never dislike them and root for everyone to succeed. One final note, the best moments are with Woody & Hailee together. They are hilarious with his dead pan delivery being a perfect match for Hailee's spastic anxiety driven character. Everyone should give this a try once. See more Gareth v @geewah Sep 19 A smart, funny, and heartfelt teen dramedy that feels both modern and timeless, anchored by a fantastic performance from Hailee Steinfeld.
