What could have been a dull and very French lecture in modern linguistics becomes a high-stakes whodunit where the usual suspects are not your typical movie culprits. Go to Full Review

Watching a bad film, like reading a bad book, is dispiriting. The temptation when it comes to a film such as The Translators is to ignore it. However, I think the smugness of these films needs to be challenged. Go to Full Review

The Translators spins a mysterious web of literary secrets, suspicions, and schemes in a deliciously twisty plot with plenty of clever surprises and thrills. Go to Full Review
Hannah Brown Jerusalem Post 12/09/2021
While it may not be especially plausible, it is a twist-filled mystery about a group of translators tasked with rendering the final volume of a best-selling French trilogy into their native languages, and it's delicious fun. Go to Full Review

Whilst it does get a little too convoluted for its own good at times, The Translators is a taut and entertaining mystery thriller. Go to Full Review

Meanwhile, he hires nine translators, who sign a confidentiality agreement and are isolated in a bunker from a Russian millionaire for two months, to translate the French original into nine languages. When he releases the first ten pages to the translators, a hacker blackmails him threatening to release the pages and requests a ramson. Fearing the future of his publishing house, the ruthless Eric and his security team threaten the translators wishing to know who leaked the pages. “Les traducteurs”, a.k.a. “The Translators” (2019), is a French-Belgium movie with a simple story but excellent screenplay. The plot has several twists in a non-linear timeline and provides the viewer with additional information about the scene. The cast has great performances, and the conclusion is unexpected. My vote is eight. Purtroppo la trama finisce per prendere una piega differente, nel momento in cui si scopre quali sono i colpevoli, e da quel momento iniziano una serie di colpi di scena altamente improbabili che finiscono col far diventare il protagonista una specie di supereroe, scrittore di fama mondiale, hacker ed infallibile calcolatore. Viste le premesse era meglio continuare su qualcosa di più simile ad un romanzo di Agatha Christie.
