It isn’t a deconstruction of the genre, it does repeatedly deny viewers the formulaic pleasures that it promises. Go to Full Review

Netflix’s The Truthers is a slow-burning Spanish psychological mystery that explores grief, paranoia and family secrets. Go to Full Review

What looks at first like a straightforward mystery slowly reveals itself as something far more interesting. Go to Full Review

Has a solid, suspenseful foundation coupled with a strong performance in Magnin. But with the way it meanders as straightforwardly as it does, coupled with an underdeveloped story, this psychological conspiracy thriller is nothing more than generic. Go to Full Review

The film doesn't reinvent the wheel...But The Truthers is a decent film for all audiences, whose greatest strength lies in its chosen subject matter. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Truthers isn't a bad film, but it doesn't rise above the average of the many lackluster movies that Netflix produces and distributes to fill its catalog. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Delle T @thedelletorres Aug 22 The Truthers is more interesting when you’re wondering why these people believe what they believe than when you’re trying to figure out what actually happened. And that’s both its most interesting idea and its biggest missed opportunity. See more Marco L @decatur555 Aug 21 The Truthers has an intriguing premise, using conspiracy thinking to blur the line between genuine danger and a reality reconstructed from suspicion. Its strongest element is Stéphanie Magnin, who gives Ruth enough presence and uncertainty to keep the mystery engaging as her relationship with her father becomes increasingly difficult to interpret. José Coronado is effective whenever he appears, but the film never uses him as much as such an ambiguous character deserves. Roger Gual creates several interesting possibilities, although some are resolved too quickly and the more conventional investigation is less compelling than the family conflict. Uneven and occasionally peculiar, but certainly watchable, with an idea that remains more interesting than everything the screenplay eventually does with it. I am cutting 1 star just for adult scenes. See more Joshua M @Flameon Aug 4 It's a decent watch with good acting. It's not an especially compelling plot. Good, yet at the same time, not completely developed. See more ben F @BenFranz Aug 3 I enjoyed it although it was alittle slow in the middle and came to a sudden conclusion, tied up some lose ends. They could have directed and edited this film to make it more suspenseful. See more Read all reviews
