This movie is a great example of what the future of Rom-Coms can deliver, embracing all the genre's positivity and romance, but adding the twists, darkness, and raw emotion that gives it both staying power and immediate relevance.

This is the first example of a new movie genre that I will call the rom com thriller. An orthodox girl in Israel when her marriage plans fail, decides to offer God, Destiny, the Universe, a challenge. She makes arrangements for her wedding ceremony during a religious holiday a few weeks later, without having a groom candidate. Rents a venue, orders the food, have sessions to adjust her wedding gown. During that time she serially dates men from different backgrounds without significant success. At the very end, a savior conveniently materializes. I could do without the Israeli pop songs, but otherwise the movie is very smart. I would have preferred if she had selected the musician, but that’s just me. Don’t miss the snake! Another rom com innovation.

It was fun to a degree, I even liked guessing who the groom will be (happens to be my favorite) but I think I'd like it more if it wasn't all religiously wrapped together. Mobile petting zoo is a great idea by the way.

This is a warm, charming, subtle, Israeli romantic comedy by writer-director Rama Burshtein. As with her 2012 film Fill the Void, Burshtein once again examines marriage among Orthodox Jews, but this time in a more upbeat way, and more sympathetically to the would-be bride. Noa Koler put in a heartfelt performance that won her honors at the Haifa Film Festival. Oz Zehavi and Amos Tamam (of Srugim) put in engaging supporting performances. Roy Edri's music and Amit Yasur's cinematography are splendid.

I was speechless after seeing this movie...twice. It is a really smart story, great acting, characters, the tension it builds was every bit the cliff-hanger I had hoped for. Bravo...more more more. Thank you!
