Michael T @Kidtuohy 4d Fun action movie if your looking for something fast paced its a good choice See more Chris S @Janomi Jul 4 Total Recall (2012) wisely avoids simply remaking the original, instead leaning into a fast-paced espionage thriller with sleek futuristic visuals and nearly nonstop action. Len Wiseman creates an impressive world filled with striking cityscapes, advanced technology, and polished visual effects that give the film its own identity. The action is consistently entertaining, with several well-executed chase scenes and hand-to-hand fights. Colin Farrell delivers a more grounded take on Douglas Quaid, while Kate Beckinsale is the standout as the relentless Lori, bringing intensity to nearly every scene she's in. Jessica Biel also provides solid support throughout. Unfortunately, the screenplay strips away much of what made the original so memorable. The philosophical ambiguity, political satire, and dark humor are largely replaced by more conventional action, making the film feel safer than it should. Even so, it's an enjoyable sci-fi thriller with impressive production values. See more Ian R @RT23899272 Jun 4 It's impossible not to compare this with the original Schwarzenegger film. Aside from Colin Farrell being a poor substitute for Arnold, this version doesn't even mention Mars, let alone have it as the location for any part of the story. As a stand alone movie it has enough action to maintain some interest. I thought Jessica Biel was head and shoulders the best actor in the film. Kate Beckinsale was unconvincing. I don't know why it was made, it didn't add anything to the original or to science fiction film in general. Nothing is sacred. I expect that there will be a remake of Blade Runner next.
