Critics Consensus

Propelled by a commanding and layered performance from Sigourney Weaver, Aliens trades the original's slow burn dread for tightly orchestrated action and visceral thrills to stand as a sequel worthy of its predecessor.

Aliens is a knockabout. It's one of a small handful of sequels that, as entertainment, approach their progenitors' value. Go to Full Review

The movie lacks some of the original's ability to shock, but it makes up for it with great action. It is less horrific than "Alien," but more exciting. Go to Full Review

Cameron isn't has poetic or visually imaginative as Scott was, but there's juice and macabre humor in "Aliens." Go to Full Review

Vitality is everything, as English writer Thomas Carlyle once said. And this film, as well as Cameron's Terminator, has that quality. Go to Full Review

"Aliens" is at least as good and probably better than its 1979 predecessor. Go to Full Review

Robert P @Superbad 1d This has got to be scarier than the first Movie "Alien" but so much more actions take place and saving the little girl forces me to give this movie a "5" star review! See more nick S @Nick_S 1d I remember when it came out being a bit disappointed it didn't have the same lurking terror as Alien. And some character/plot elements felt like retreads. But considering the director had to do something fresh within the framework of the original it was an excellent film. Great effects, good acting. See more B P @Bradster69 2d Definitely Recommend It See more M L @RT87435539 3d Goddamnit, that’s not all! Because if one of those things gets down here then that will be all - then all this, this bullshit! YOU CAN JUST KISS ALL THAT GOODBYE. See more Oliver M @RT37155707 6d It’s what you expect. An Alien sequel, already good if you haven’t watched it because it’s a descendant of Alien. Still good if you watch it. Laughed at chestburster part and I don’t know why. Stay Frosty! See more Ian R @RT23899272 Aug 12 Might just be me, but James Cameron ruined this film. It's full of male bravado. If you can stand cigar chewing braggarts and screaming children this might be okay. It's a shame as the first Alien movie was so good. Sigourney Weaver is brilliant in it. See more Read all reviews
