Silver Streak is so helplessly unslick that it doesn't even have the wit to show Wilder looking at the book upside down.

…Silver Streak is a slick package, with a roll-call of comic and acting talents having fun with a silly script that’s a neat thriller parody…Gene Wilder, Richard Pryor and co just about keep this train on track…

A pretty good movie, but it throws away a lot of potential for greatness.

Like a Mel Brooks comic spellbinder, merged with some of the flavor of Inspector Clouseau.

Not a funny as I remember it being, when I saw it years ago. Should have been 10 minutes shorter in length and utilized Richard Pryor more - he doesn't appear until halfway through the movie! I dressed exactly like Gene Wilder does (in this film) during the whole 1970s. Patrick McGoohan should have taken the role of 007 when it was offered to him.

"Silver Streak" won't win any best picture awards or Pulitzer Prizes, but it has a few rip-roaring laughs and a train-crash scene that was outstanding for its time. If you don't have anything to do for two hours, you can't go wrong with giving this a peek.

Perfection. If you don’t like this movie, as the Ramones said "leave home".. or what they would say today, "turn off you device and leave home!"
