Backwoods farmer Jed Clampett strikes oil on his land, and soon he and his clan have moved to the posh surroundings of Beverly Hills, Calif. As Jed, Granny, Elly May and Jethro adjust to completely new surroundings and culture, they must deal with an unscrupulous banker and his employees, who are scheming to get their money. Luckily, the banker's top assistant develops a soft spot for the Clampetts.

It's thin stuff, but the ingratiating naivete of the characters and the aw-shucks friendliness of the cast are disarming, and it becomes easy to just let this go down as a country tune with some moonshine on the side.

If your gonna make a movie based on a popular TV show then this is how you do it. I absolutely enjoyed this take on the Beverly hillbillies. Jim Varney,Rob Schneider and the rest of the cast were fantastic. My favorite scene is when Jethro is rebuilding his vehicle into a monster truck. Tim Treakle

It's too bad they don't give casting directors awards. The person that cast this movie definitely deserves one. Every actor in this movie is perfectly cast. This is one of the few times that the film mirrors the TV show. Just wish they made more family-friendly films like this one. Definitely one of Jim varney's best movies.

This was a successful adaptation from television to film. The casting was well done. Jim Varney was an excellent choice for the role of Jed. It is a good movie, although viewers may need to keep an open mind due to the type of humor that the casting team aimed to bring from the television show to the film.

I grew up watching this film on vhs and it is a childhood favorite. Jim varney portraying jedd clampett was spot on. I understand this film isn't for everyone, but give it a watch it might surprise you!

Garbage, just like the tv show that spawned it. Brainless hickspoiltation. (If you want redneck comedy drama see Raising Arizona). This is probably at the bottom of the movies-based-on-tv-shows list; the top being The Fugitive.

I love the Beverly Hillbilies tv show. I love the movie. I love the fact that it stuck to the story line while adding it's own humor to it. It can't be exactly like the original because it is recasted with different actors. The movie is heart warming, funny, and family friendly.
