Sabrina Fairchild is a chauffeur's daughter who grew up with the wealthy Larrabee family. She always had unreciprocated feelings for David, the family's younger son and playboy. Dated and disappointing. The humor didn’t work for us, and much of the music sounded more like Muzak than a John Williams score. Even the characters weren’t appealing, and the whole thing began to feel like a bad TV show. We gave up after 30 minutes.

I walked out of the theatre. I have never done that before. It did not compare to the original, and Harrison Ford was boring.

This movie is a kind of fairy tale, but all romcoms are. I loved the comic touches that Greg Kinnear brought to it. I thought Harrison Ford was a little stiff in the role, but, in the end I wanted to believe in the fairy tale, as I’ve been to Paris myself. It can be transformative magical. I wasn’t bothered by the difference in the ages of the two stars. Julia Ormond was lovely and did a more than credible job. Lush music and a chance to see how the other half lives. I always trust any film associated with Sydney Pollack. Four stars!
