Critics Consensus

Though it may not reach for any new artistic heights, The Count of Monte Cristo is an old-fashioned yet enjoyable swashbuckler.

The ways in which it plays out its basic concepts of personal reinvention and much-anticipated comeuppances are largely effective.

As a classic story this is a great underrated film. Starring a great cast this film retells a story of being wrongfully imprisoned and spending the rest of the film bringing others to justice. This is a great story with excellent performances by its cast. Even if you know this story this version is fun exciting and entertaining enjoy.

De las mejores peliculas de venganza por justicia a mano proria por destino divino y lo aprovecho todas las oportunidades que tuvo para escapar de donde lo encerraron pero no pudieron con el.

one of the worst adaptation of a great novel... the script writer confused a bad taste with original imagination... so, everything looks like a parody and joke...

A classic I’ll always love. Even with some dramatic changes from the book - I probably prefer this version more.
