As a baby, Patrick (Cillian Murphy) is left by his mother on the steps of the rectory in their small Irish town. He's discovered by Father Liam (Liam Neeson), coincidentally his real father, and placed in an abusive foster home. By the time he's a teen, Patrick identifies himself as transgendered, renames himself Kitten and sets out for London with a rock group in hopes of finding his mother. Along the way he works variously as a magician's assistant, a prostitute and a dancer.

Ã̸̻s̴̥̈h̶̬̊a̶̝̐t̶̢̅r̷͈͗ĭ̶̺x̵͎͆ T @RT19411307 Nov 19 This movie was all-around 5/5 stars, but not just because of Cillian Murphy (Got to love him), but also because of the message I took away from it. Personally, to me, this movie was about believing in oneself, persisting through tough and challenging times to reach your desired goal – which may not what you thought it may be, and the journey you take may be a large, difficult shift to what you imagined. This movie should receive a lot more recognition for it's meaning, as Kitten – despite all the backlash from not only society but from family, eventually found happiness through incredibly tough times. Overall, I adore this move, I adore Kitten, my own interpretation of it has encouraged me to carry on with my dreams, and many others should do the same. Thank you. See more Jane H @RT41886605 01/18/2025 I really enjoyed this film and Cillian Murphy expertly navigates the role of 'Kitten' an Irish transvestite, who, abandoned by his mother as a baby, is both vulnerable and extraordinarily tough. Considering the subject matter, it isn't what you would call 'gritty' as such. it's not like the Crying Game in that sense and the more challenging aspects of the film are quite underplayed but this does make it a much easier watch and all the more enjoyable for it. There are some great characters in it with a plethora of well known actors, even Bryan Ferry pops up as a psychopathic punter.
