Mona, a Druze bride-to-be, lives in a village on the border of Israel and Syria. Her father, political leader Hammed, wants her to marry a Syrian comedian, but her move to Syria would likely be a permanent one, considering the political unrest between the two countries. The wedding planning is a nightmare, and tensions are high -- especially when Mona's siblings, who have moved on to new countries and complicated relationships, come home before the big day.

VoicesofEden- A @RT94069246 Jul 15, 2025 Just watched this film for the fifth time. The last time I watched it was with Druze friends in Galilee - some 15 years ago. Given the extreme politics of recent years - this film has become even more precious because both the Israeli and Palestinian co-producers so sensitively address the human side of political craziness. It shows the power of kindness and humanity - in the midst of pain that bureaucracy so easily can bring. I liked watching it this fifth time - as much as the first...actually even better. Hiam Abbas and Clara Khoury are fantastic actresses. See more Feb 7, 2013 (***): Interesting throughout. See more Nov 30, 2012 A poignant drama that effectively builds up the struggle to lead a normal life and experience little joys and sorrows that would otherwise be basic human rights were it not for the politics of geographic boundaries between Syria and Israel... See more Nov 5, 2012 Heartbreaking but well told story of a wedding across political lines. I don't think anyone will forget the very poignant depcition of a bride stranded at a border crossing unable to be a participant in her happy day.
