An estranged family finds redemption in the unlikeliest of places: the MMA ring. Tommy (Tom Hardy), an ex-Marine with a tragic past, returns home and enlists his father (Nick Nolte), a recovering alcoholic and former wrestling coach, to train him for "Sparta," the biggest MMA tournament ever held. One of the most moving films I have ever seen, and I'm certainly not an MMA fan. The fight scenes are really just a way to tell the story of the two brothers. The script, the acting, the character and the story are perfect. There's really no reason not to love this film... except perhaps if you're not a man. I can appreciate that women do not respond emotionally in the same way to this kind of story, because it is profoundly masculine, in the best way possible.

One of two man in carts gets outperforms the other in every way throughout the movie just to get beaten in the last round. Saw it coming from the beginning, but was still disappointed.

I think.you.have to be aperson who likes this kind of fighting. I just watched it because it was a Tom hardy movie I've never seen before. I liked the end though because of the brother thing. Movie, itself. Lamely made, I thought compared so many of his other movies. His acting is always so on top.
